Chief Philanthropy Officer, Minneapolis Jewish Federation

Steven grew up in Scottsdale, Arizona and was influenced by Jewish summer camp and BBYO. He received his undergraduate degree at the University of Puget Sound, studying business, economics and math. Steven started his career as a Regional Director at BBYO, where he was a part of a cohort of professionals to receive a Master in Business Administration in Nonprofit Management from Indiana University and Certificate in Informal Jewish Education & Camping from Hebrew College. Steven continued his career at the Jewish Community Foundation of Southern Arizona revamping their grantmaking strategies and programs before moving to Denver where he consulted with many nonprofits in the Jewish, environmental, educational and social service sectors. In 2018, Steven re-joined Jewish communal work at JEWISHcolorado, the local Federation, overseeing various philanthropic efforts and grantmaking, including Annual Campaign, Affinities, Planned Giving, and Foundation. In 2022, Steven took the leap to become a “Frozen Chosen” as the Chief Philanthropy Officer of the Minneapolis Jewish Federation and Minnesota Jewish Community Foundation, overseeing strategy, execution and growth of community-wide philanthropy for MJF and MNJCF. Steven is proud of the work and partnerships formed with tremendous lay leadership on behalf of the local and global Jewish communities.

Outside of work, Steven is an avid reality competition show fan, brewery and restaurant connoisseur, hiker and traveler. He is over halfway to his goal of visiting all 50 states and six continents. Lastly, but certainly not least, he is the best uncle ever to a four-year old niece.
